National Museum of the History of Ukraine
This museum hosts collections of artifacts of Ukrainian history, from ancient times until nowadays. It showcases archeological artifacts, decorative art, weapons, early printed books, and relics of Ukrainian history. Founded in 1899 as the Museum of Antiquities and Arts, its name and location had changed several times before nominated as National Museum of Ukrainian History in 1991. Pinchuk Art Centre
As a center for contemporary art founded in 2006 by Victor Pinchuk Foundation, Pinchuk Art Centre aims to link international challenges and the Ukrainian national identity throughout productions, presentations, collections, and projects. Kyiv Water Museum
Kyiv Water Museum is an educational center at a building where it used to be the central water supply in Kyiv, built-in 1876. It exposes the history of water supply in the Ukrainian capital, models of artesian well and waste collector, examples of water wasting. Excursions are available in English, Ukrainian, and Russian under request. Located at Kreschatyk Park.
Pyrohiv
Pyrohiv is an open-air museum on the southern outskirts of Kyiv. It showcases the traditional Ukrainian village from the medieval times reproducing the traditional houses named “khata” and wooden constructions present at those times. To arrive at Pyrohiv, you can:
-take the bus 576 from the metro station Akademmistechko (Академмістечко), red line.
– take the bus 172 from the metro station Druzhby Narodiv (Дружби Народів), green line.
– take the bus 496 from the metro station Lukianivska (Лук’янівська), green line.
National Museum Holodomor Victims Memorial
The National Museum Holodomor Victims Memorial promotes awareness about the Holodomor, an artificial famine that killed between 7-11 million people only in Ukraine by Stalin’s orders. Opens daily from 10:00 h until 18:00 h. Located at Lavrska St. 3, next to metro station Arsenalna (Арсенальна). Tours are available in Ukrainian, English, and Russian.
Street art in Kyiv
An interesting aspect of Kyiv is the presence of the art scene along with its public spaces. For example, the blue cats mosaic on the wall at the parks on Peizazhnaya Alley and Desyatinny Street, created by the sculptor K. Skretusky.
Another example is to pass by the Kyiv Fashion Park.
The mural paintings around the city also feature street art in Kyiv.
